NoLita Bakery Opening TriBeCa Branch

By Louise Kramer | November 6, 2002

After a decade in business, CeCi-Cela, a popular bakery at 55 Spring St. in NoLita, is expanding to a second location.

Laurent Dupal, a partner in the French patisserie, says in this shaky economy, there is still plenty of demand for pastries and tarts. The new location is in a residential building in TriBeCa at 166 Chambers St. The bakery, in a 924-square-foot space, is slated to open early next year.
Bruce Sinder, president of Sinvin Realty Corp., was the landlord’s representative. The asking rent was $75 per sq. ft. The shop will feature pastries baked on-site, as well as a line of bread from Sullivan Street Bakery in SoHo.

Mr. Dupal is still committed to NoLita. He recently extended his Spring Street lease by 15 years.
